Nothing kick-starts a Sunday brunch better than a freshly shucked oyster swimming in a shot of Bloody Caesar (a Bloody Mary made with Clamato juice) and topped with freshly grated horseradish.
Directions for: Kicked Up Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters
Ingredients
8 oz Clamato juice or tomato juice, chilled
4 oz lemon vodka
2 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice + 1 lemon wedge
tsp salt
tsp freshly ground black pepper
4 shakes Worcestershire sauce, or to taste
3 shakes hot sauce, or to taste
2 Tbsp celery salt or regular salt
12 oysters, shucked
2 Tbsp freshly grated horseradish or - teaspoon prepared horseradish
Directions
1. In a small pitcher, mix tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and hot sauce. If fresh horseradish is not available, add prepared horseradish now.
2. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
3. Place celery salt on a small saucer 1/4 inch deep. Moisten the rims of 12 shot glasses with the lemon wedge, then dip in celery salt.
4. Stir Caesar mix, then fill shot glasses 3/4 full. Drop an oyster in each glass and sprinkle with horseradish. Say hello to the new day.
