Directions for: Uncle Willy's Backwoods Donut
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups cornmeal
1 cups fine sugar
1 tsp baking soda
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 large farm eggs
1 cups buttermilk
cup sour cream
cup butter, melted
2 Tbsp pure vanilla
Directions
1. Work the batter lightly and pin out the donuts on a well-floured table. Use a handy empty soup can (for that true backwoods feel) to cut out the donuts.
2. Fry at 375F until golden, then garnish with a vanilla buttercream icing and equal pinches of salt and pepper. This batch makes about 48, perfect for a backyard barbecue.
